Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)

War in the 21st century looks nothing like the battlefields of the past. Increasingly, the most powerful weapons aren’t missiles, or tanks; they are hospitals left without power, aid convoys blocked at borders and water supplies deliberately contaminated. Across active war sites, from Gaza to Ukraine to Sudan, civilian infrastructure is deliberately being targeted along with humanitarian assistance strategically manipulated as leverage; stripping millions of their most basic needs for survival. While the Geneva Convention technically prohibits such actions, enforcement remains weak and powerful actors routinely escape accountability. Delegates in DISEC will work to strengthen these international norms, close critical legal loopholes and will build frameworks that protect civilians when rules based order is under its greatest stress to allow the conflicted zone population to execise their basic needs of survival. You will be exploring international law, human rights and global security as a delegate at DISEC.
